How to Select Your Ultimate Frypan?
If we were being really strict (or maybe downright pedantic), when we say cookware we’re talking about the vessels used in preparing food atop a stove or hob. It stands to follow that bakeware, the subject of another article, is, properly speaking, the vessels used for preparing food in ovens. So, things like roasting trays, roasting racks, terrines and baking dishes could very well be considered bakeware. However, the foods created in those vessels, such as roasted meats and vegetables, pates, casseroles, etc., aren’t what most consider baked goods—meaning cakes, breads and pastries. With that in mind, we will include baking dishes, roasting racks and other such items when discussing cookware.
A frying pan will have you frying your favourite foods in no time. If you partner a good quality frying pan with an equally adept sauce pan, you have the basis a simple yet highly effective set of cookware. Saucepans can be used for just about anything. Are you a big fan of stews or casseroles? A sauce pan is an effective vessel for cooking or reheating such delicious recipes. For more specialised recipes, a Dutch oven or casserole dish is recommended, but don’t underestimate the value of your humble saucepan.
By owning a frying pan, stockpot and saucepan, you’re well on your way to a richer experience in the kitchen. Theses three pieces of cookware are the most versatile and standard types of cookware, and the plethora of options available on the market further illustrates this. Once you have mastered these basic items, you can expand your culinary vocabulary with more specialised cookware.
